About Real Gela

Real Gela started simply: with a girl who didn’t fall in love with Gela straight away.

At first, I found the city difficult to understand. It wasn’t love at first sight. But I kept coming back, summer after summer, and slowly I started to see something different.

A good meal here. A walk along the coast there. An archaeological site I had never noticed before. A place that became familiar. An evening, an event, a view, a little corner of the city that made me want to come back.

That’s how Real Gela came about.

It isn’t a tourism brochure, and I’m not trying to tell you that everything is perfect. I’m simply sharing Gela as I experience it — through the eyes of someone who discovered the city slowly and continues to discover it.

I give my own scores and opinions. Sometimes a place will surprise me. Sometimes it won’t. And sometimes the honest answer is simply: I wouldn’t go back.

There are no paid opinions behind the ratings. I’m interested in the places, the experiences and the little details that might make someone else look at Gela differently.

Real Gela is my way of saying: give it a chance.

Maybe you won’t fall in love with it straight away either.

But maybe, like me, you’ll find yourself coming back.
