Real Gela is an independent, personal guide to Gela, Sicily. It is not an official tourism service. For privacy questions or requests, contact info@realgela.com.
Information we collect
You can browse the public website without creating an account. Our hosting provider may process standard technical data such as your IP address, browser information, requested pages, timestamps and security logs to deliver and protect the website.
If you suggest an event, we process the event title, date and poster you submit, together with the technical information needed to receive the submission. Do not include personal information in a poster unless you have permission to share it.
How we use information
We use information only to:
- operate, secure and improve the website;
- review event suggestions and contact organisers when contact details are supplied;
- publish approved editorial content and event information; and
- meet legal obligations and prevent abuse.
Instagram and Meta
Real Gela uses Meta's Instagram API to publish Real Gela content to the Instagram account operated by Real Gela. The integration may process the connected account's identifier, username, access token, publishing status and media metadata. Access tokens are stored as protected server-side secrets and are not exposed to website visitors.
The public website does not ask visitors to sign in with Instagram and does not collect visitors' Instagram passwords. Information processed by Meta is also subject to Meta's own privacy terms.
Service providers
We use Cloudflare for website hosting, security and event-submission processing, GitHub for source and editorial content storage, Pages CMS for editorial management, and Meta for Instagram publishing. These providers may process data under their own terms and in the countries where they operate.
Retention and sharing
We keep submissions and technical records only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above. We do not sell personal information. We share information only with service providers needed to operate the site, when you ask us to, or when required by law.
Your choices and rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete personal information you have submitted, or object to its processing, by emailing info@realgela.com. We may need to verify your request. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website or its services change. The latest version and its effective date will remain available on this page.
