My experience
Iโm the kind of person who wakes up already thinking about breakfast.
So when I tell you that I have been coming back to Peccati di Gola for around nine years, you know I take this seriously.
The first time I went there, I loved it immediately. It is modern, spacious and elegant, but it still feels Sicilian. It has not lost that traditional bar atmosphere where you can quickly drink a coffee at the counter, or sit down and enjoy something dangerously full of pistachio cream.
And yes, the food is the real reason I keep coming back.
The croissants are not filled with a sad little spoon of cream hidden somewhere in the middle. They are properly filled. Nutella, chocolate, pistachio, ricotta and many other flavours. The kind of breakfast where you need several napkins and absolutely no regrets.
They also make biscuits, cakes and homemade gelato, and you can order birthday cakes too. But in summer, you cannot forget the granita with a fresh brioche (col tuppo).
Coffee, lemon, gelsi, pistachio and many other flavours. Choose your favourite, tear the brioche into pieces and dip it into the granita. It is messy, sweet and completely worth it.
Then there are the cannoli and bignรจ.
They fill them when you order, which is exactly how it should be. The shell stays crispy, the ricotta is fresh and creamy, and for a few minutes you will probably stop listening to the person sitting next to you.
Summer in Gela can feel like someone left the oven door open, but inside there is good air conditioning, so you can sit, relax and enjoy your time without melting into the chair.
Peccati di Gola is also a nice place for an aperitivo, with a spritz, mini burgers and other small snacks.
I am not paid to say any of this. I simply really like this place.
When I have been away from Gela, food is one of the things I miss most. Peccati di Gola is part of that feeling. It is one of the first places I want to return to, and one of the easiest places for me to recommend.
